RAPID CITY, S.D. — With a forecast of sunny skies and temperatures in the 80s, outdoor swimming pools in Rapid City are opening for the summer season today, May 30, 2025. Residents of Rapid City and the surrounding Black Hills area can now enjoy a refreshing escape from the heat.
The Horace Mann, Parkview, and Sioux Park pools are scheduled to open daily from noon to 6 p.m. The 50-meter outdoor pool at the Roosevelt Swim Center began its summer operations earlier this week, offering extended hours. The Roosevelt pool is open Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 5:30 p.m.
Daily swim passes are available for $8 for adults and youth, and $7 for senior citizens 62 years and older. Twenty-punch passes are also offered for individuals and families.
Last summer, a total of 81,025 admissions were recorded across all four Rapid City pools — Sioux Park, Parkview, Horace Mann, and Roosevelt Park Swim Center. This figure marks an increase from the 73,097 admissions in 2023 and the 80,412 admissions in 2022, indicating growing popularity for aquatic activities in South Dakota.
