RAPID CITY, SD — At around 7:40am on October 3rd officers of the RCPD met with a party who had reported a vehicle burglary.

Upon their arrival, investigations began and the party was questioned, during which they learned that several items had been stolen from the vehicle, including a revolver. No suspect has been detained at this time, and this is considered an active investigation.

The RCPD concluded their report, stating the following: “The incident should serve as a regular reminder that a vehicle is not a secure place to leave a firearm, especially if it is left unlocked. Responsible gun ownership begins with 24/7 accountability for all owned firearms. A firearm left in an unattended vehicle does nobody any good”.
