The first incident happened around 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday. Police were dispatched to the 700 Block of E. Anamosa St., for a report of 40-year-old Cass Mesteth having assaulted another person with a knife.
During the confrontation, one victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and Mr. Mesteth fled the scene.
He was located a short time later by police and subsequently arrested on several charges, including Aggravated Assault, Felony DUI, and Open Container in a Motor Vehicle.
The second incident happened around 2:30 a.m. Thursday as police were dispatched to the 100 block of Waterloo Street after a caller reported a stabbing.
Officers made contact with the victim, who stated they were doing laundry when an unknown male began harassing them through a laundry-room window.
After an exchange of words, the suspect left but later returned, reached through the window, and stabbed the victim.
After the assault, the victim contacted police. The investigation remains active.
