RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City Police say a man is recovering from a gunshot wound following an incident that occurred Monday afternoon on the city’s north side.

At approximately 2:00 p.m. on June 9, officers with the Rapid City Police Department responded to the 1800 block of Brentwood Street for a report of an adult male with a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, officers found the man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his shoulder.

A medical team responded quickly and transported the victim to the hospital. Police say his injuries are serious but not life-threatening.

Through the initial investigation, officers determined the shooting may have taken place at an apartment located at 20 Surfwood Drive. A search warrant was obtained for the residence.

According to police, the shooting appears to be drug-related and was not a random act of violence.

Investigators continue to work the case but say the lack of cooperation from the injured individual and other potential witnesses is hindering progress.

Anyone with information related to the shooting is encouraged to contact the Rapid City Police Department or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 605-394-4120.
