RAPID CITY, S.D. – Two Rapid City residents were arrested early Thursday after an assault allegedly involving rocks left one woman hospitalized with serious injuries.
The incident occurred around 2:05 a.m. on October 10th, when Rapid City police were dispatched to the 1600 block of Mount Rushmore Road for a report of an assault that had just taken place.
Officers arriving on scene located an injured party who reported being assaulted by two suspects who used rocks to strike her. A medical unit transported the woman to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries sustained during the assault.
Police located two individuals matching the description given by witnesses walking near the intersection of Flormann Street and 7th Street. They were identified as 39-year-old Alphonso Badhand and 34-year-old Denna Andrews, both of Rapid City.
A search of Badhand’s person led to the discovery of several rocks that appeared to have fresh blood on them. Both Badhand and Andrews were detained, and witnesses positively identified them as the suspects involved in the assault.
Badhand and Andrews were both placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault and transported to the Pennington County Jail.
