RAPID CITY, S.D. – Pennington County administration offices are scheduled to begin a phased relocation to their new facility at 900 Concourse Drive starting next week, county officials announced. The move aims to consolidate several departments into the new administrative building to better serve the public in Rapid City and the surrounding Black Hills area.

The transition process is designed to minimize disruption, with offices moving over two key dates in November.

The first group of offices, the Register of Deeds and the Commission Office, will begin the move on Monday, Nov. 3.

The second phase, scheduled for Monday, Nov. 10, will include the Treasurer’s Office, Planning & Zoning, the Auditor’s Office, and the Equalization Office.

New Operating Hours for County Services

Once fully relocated, all county offices at the 900 Concourse Drive location will operate under a standardized schedule of Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

The Equalization Office, originally set for a later move, is now anticipated to open to the public at the new facility on Monday, Nov. 10, a few days earlier than initially planned. This accelerated schedule reflects progress on the construction and preparation of the new space.

The department will continue its operations at its current location, 130 Kansas City Street, through Thursday, Nov. 6, maintaining its temporary schedule of Monday-Thursday, 7:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

Project Ahead of Schedule

“We’re pleased to share that our move is running slightly ahead of schedule,” said Davis Purcell, Buildings & Grounds Director. “Our crews and staff have worked efficiently to prepare the new space, allowing the Equalization Department to complete their move and open to the public a few days earlier than expected. This progress helps us minimize disruption and get everyone settled into the new building more quickly.”
