RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Black Hills chapter of the Wind and Fire Motorcycle Club recently donated $1,238 to the Children’s Home Society (CHS). The club, an international group of active and retired firefighters who share a passion for riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles, collected the funds during their “fire boot collection” drive, a tribute to their fire service background.
This latest contribution continues the group’s long-standing support for CHS, marking 11 years of partnership. In that time, the Black Hills Wind and Fire chapter has raised more than $40,000 for the organization.
The donations support children and families across South Dakota who have been impacted by trauma, aligning with CHS’s mission to prevent, treat, and heal trauma.
“We are deeply grateful to our longtime friends at the Black Hills Wind and Fire Motorcycle Club,” said Children’s Home Foundation Director of Development Heather Hoeye. Hoeye noted that as first responders, the club members understand the “profound impact traumatic events can have on individuals” and how “essential hope and healing are to recovery”.
The Children’s Home Society of South Dakota, established in 1893, provides a wide range of services to meet the evolving needs of children and families. These services include Emergency Shelter and Crisis Intervention, Residential Treatment and School, Outpatient Mental Health Services, and Therapeutic Foster Care.
