RAPID CITY, SD — A Rapid City man, 33-year-old August Gutjahr, has been arrested following reports of shots fired from his pickup.
The event came to light at around 8:10am on September 29th following a report from a party who claimed that a man had brandished a gun at them while they were driving near the intersection of E. Catron Boulevard and Campbell Street.
“The reporting party stated the pickup driver fired the handgun out the passenger side window,” said Brendyn Medina, Community Relations Officer with the RCPD, who said that officers on-scene were able to obtain a description and license plate number, leading to locating the vehicle later at Denny Menholt Rapid Chevrolet, located at 2323 E. Mall Drive.
Searching Gutjahr’s vehicle revealed a loaded handgun, and following a positive identification of Gutjahr, he was arrested on suspicion of Aggravated Assault and Discharge of a Firearm from a Moving Vehicle.
