RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Police say a 25-year-old man was arrested after an attempted robbery escalated into a confrontation involving a knife and a bystander’s intervention at a business on East Saint Patrick Street.
The incident occurred on Friday, January 24, at approximately 10:45 p.m. Police responded to BJ’s Food & Fuel at 701 E Saint Patrick Street following a report that a man had entered the store and attempted to steal merchandise. When confronted by staff, the suspect reportedly brandished a knife.
According to witnesses, a bystander then displayed a pistol to detain the suspect until officers arrived.
Police arrested the suspect, identified as Konrad Featherman of Rapid City, at the scene without further incident.
After interviewing witnesses, authorities charged Featherman with three counts of aggravated assault. He was transported to the Pennington County Jail.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
