RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Fire Department is holding a specialized live fire training exercise for its Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) teams. The training will take place on Monday, Sept. 8, at the Rapid City Regional Airport’s Fire Station 8.

The drills are designed to keep the department’s ARFF-qualified firefighters current on their certifications, as required annually by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for all commercial airports. Firefighters will use a realistic training prop to simulate an aircraft fire and practice proper fire attack techniques.

Crews from Station 8 and other stations will participate in the training.
