Raiders Steal Thrilling Walk-Off Victory Over Cobblers

Rapid City, SD – The Stevens Raiders Varsity snatched a dramatic 10-9 victory over the Rapid City Central Varsity Cobblers on Wednesday in a rollercoaster of a game. With the score knotted at nine in the bottom of the seventh, Nolan Williamson delivered the game-winning hit, a single that brought the final run home and ignited celebrations for the Raiders.

Despite the loss, the Cobblers’ offense also had a strong showing with 11 hits. Asher Jackson led the way with four RBIs and two hits, while Henstein, Carter Gregory, and Laken Uttecht also had multiple hits.

The Raiders will look to carry this momentum into their next game on Saturday at Mitchell High Varsity.

Stevens Raiders Varsity took Wednesday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 10-9 walk-off victory over Rapid City Central Varsity Cobblers. The game was tied at nine in the bottom of the seventh when Nolan Williamson singled, scoring one run.

Stevens Raiders Varsity built a 7-run lead in the fourth inning and then held off Rapid City Central Varsity Cobblers’s charge. Rapid City Central Varsity Cobblers closed the gap by scoring on a walk, a single, a single, a single, a double, and a single.

Stevens Raiders Varsity got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Ian Beer grounded out, Blake Olmsted singled to left field, Teagen Smith singled down the left field line, and Max McDowell   * walked, each scoring one run.

Stevens Raiders Varsity added one run in the second after Morgan DelaPena grounded out.

Rapid City Central Varsity Cobblers tied the game in the top of the sixth thanks to a single by Nate Mailloux 2028, a double by Tyler Henstein 2025, and a single by Asher Jackson.

Brady Waddell earned the win for Stevens Raiders Varsity. The reliever surrendered three hits and zero runs over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking one. Sam Farnsworth 2029 took the loss for Rapid City Central Varsity Cobblers. The hurler went two and two-thirds innings, giving up two runs on three hits, striking out none and walking four. Mason Brooks stepped on the hill first for Stevens Raiders Varsity. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and one run over two innings, striking out three and walking none. Ben Farnsworth 2027 led things off on the hill for Rapid City Central Varsity Cobblers. The starter surrendered four hits and five runs (four earned) over two innings, striking out none and walking four. Smith threw two innings of no-run ball for Stevens Raiders Varsity in relief. The left-handed pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out one and walking two.

Stevens Raiders Varsity accumulated 12 hits in the game. DelaPena drove the middle of the lineup, leading Stevens Raiders Varsity with two runs batted in. The catcher went 1-for-3 on the day. Stevens Raiders Varsity’s Williamson, the number seven hitter, led Stevens Raiders Varsity with three hits in four at bats. Olmsted, Beer, and Smith each collected multiple hits for Stevens Raiders Varsity. Stevens Raiders Varsity had patience at the plate, accumulating 12 walks for the game. DelaPena, McDowell   *, and Brooks led the team with two walks each. Olmsted, Williamson, Ethan Wilson, and William Waddell each stole multiple bases for Stevens Raiders Varsity. Rapid City Central Varsity Cobblers amassed 11 hits in the game. Jackson led Rapid City Central Varsity Cobblers with four runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The infielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Carter Gregory 2027, Henstein 2025, Farnsworth 2029, Laken Uttecht 2026, and Jackson each collected two hits for Rapid City Central Varsity Cobblers. Mailloux 2028 led Rapid City Central Varsity Cobblers with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up nine walks for the game. Rapid City Central Varsity Cobblers ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game.
