The Rapid City Rush win 2-1 against the indy Fuel at Fishers Event Center in front of an audience of 5,395. The Rush picked up the final game of this three game series and bring three points back to Rapid City.
The first 40 minutes saw choppy end to end play. Special teams were the name of the game.
In the first period Grima for Indy took a 2 minute holding call with 5:34 to go. The first period ended 0-0.
Neither Lapide’s 2 minute tripping penalty at 4:46 or Fytens minor roughing penalty at 16:34 benefited either team.
The second period ended tied at zero.
A sniper attack by Joseph (Joyce, LeGuerrier) at 6:09 of the third period put Indy on the board.
Ryan Wagner (Davis,Ratzlaff ) answered back at 9:53 to tie the game at one.
A crazy bounce at 16:51 put the Rapid City goal under immediate review The goal was deemed good due to the fact that Smedsrud was checked into the goaltender and did not commit intentional goalie interference. Smedsrud (Wilkie, Chyzowski) get credit for the winning goal.
Connor Murphy gets the win with 21 of 22 pucks stopped. Weeks for Indy stopped 22 of 24.
The three stars of the game were: #1 Smedsrud, #2 Joseph and #3 Wagner.
The next match up of the Rapid City Rush and Indy Fuel will be Friday January 9th, Nugget’s birthday, at the Monument.
