Poultry pardon for lucky “Lucky”

Lucky Pardoned

Just in time for Thanksgiving, Rapid City Mayor Jason Salamun spared a lucky bird from the dinner table. “Lucky,” an 8-month-old turkey, received an official pardon at Main Street Square, all thanks to the Annual Turkey Pardon, the Mayor’s office, and Prairie Elk Farm.

This year’s pardoning ceremony, hosted by the dynamic duo of Amy & Brandon from The Roadhouse and the ever-entertaining Brad “Murdoc” Jurgensen from The HomeSlice Group, was a hilarious affair. “Lucky” himself seemed to enjoy the spotlight, probably more than he would have enjoyed the gravy boat.

Hailing from Prairie Elk Farm in Rapid Valley, “Lucky” is a product of sustainable farming practices. The farm’s commitment to chemical-free, pesticide-free agriculture ensures that the Black Hills community can enjoy fresh, wholesome food. So, let’s raise a glass (or a fork) to “Lucky” and the folks at Prairie Elk Farm for making this Thanksgiving a little bit more fun.
