RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Post 22 Hardhats 2025 team suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Post 320 Stars on Tuesday. The loss marks a stumble for the Hardhats in a tournament that allows for one loss.
The Post 320 Stars opened the scoring in the top of the third inning. Tegan Sayles delivered an RBI single, followed by a fielder’s choice that scored another run from Max Speed, and an RBI single from Jhett Peterson, giving them an early lead. Speed extended their advantage with a solo home run to left field in the seventh inning.
Jadon Moreno took the mound as the starter for the Post 22 Hardhats. He pitched two and one-third innings, surrendering three hits and three runs while striking out three and walking two. Laadon Faatz was the starter for Post 320 Stars, delivering a strong performance, allowing six hits and one run over seven innings, with five strikeouts and two walks.
Offensively, Blayn Hunt accounted for the Hardhats’ lone RBI. Kain McLeod was a standout at the plate for Post 22, going 3-for-3. Dawson Inhofer also contributed with two hits in two at-bats and swiped two bases.
For Post 320, Speed, Peterson, and Sayles each drove in a run. Sayles led their offense with a 2-for-4 performance. The Post 320 Stars also showcased solid defense, turning two double plays.
“320 outplayed us today. Hats off to them,” Post 22’s Kelvin Tore said. “Thankfully this tournament allows you one mulligan. We’ve used it. We’re still in the tournament and I expect us to come out and play a lot better and a lot harder tomorrow, and we’ll be fine.”
