The Post 22 Hardhats had the home crowd smiling last night as they saw back-to-back wins over the CBC Post 2 Oilers at Fitzgerald Stadium. From the very first pitch to the final out, the Hardhats were sharp, energized, and in full command, sweeping the doubleheader 9–0 and 7–1.

Game 1: Post 22 Hardhats 9, CBC Post 2 Oilers 0

In the opener, it didn’t take long for Post 22 to make a statement. They jumped out early and never looked back, putting up a big lead while pitcher Colton Morlang was throwing.

“The key to our success today was obvious,” said Post 22 Head Coach Kelvin Tore. “It started on the mound. Colton threw a complete game… and I don’t think we made an error today.”

Colton went the distance in a seven-inning complete-game shutout. He struck out six, didn’t walk a single batter, and only gave up three hits.

Brody Thompson came up big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs, while Carter Johnson, Lars Kieffer, Dexter Steen, and Jace Morgan all had multi-hit games. The Hardhats weren’t shy on the bases either, as they swiped six bags and kept the Oilers on their heels all afternoon.

The Hardhats once again set the tone early, scoring four runs in the first inning with clutch hits from Wyatt Reeder, Jace Morgan, Carter Johnson, and Dexter Steen.

Jadon Moreno took the ball and delivered six solid innings, giving up just one run on six hits while striking out four. Broden Sales came in to pitch the final inning and shut the door.

“We’re being aggressive at the plate and on the bases. Things are really clicking right now,” Coach Tore said. “But we’ve got to keep focusing on the small things. If you let them slip, they can turn into bigger problems.”

Jace Morgan led the offense in game two, going 3-for-4, with six different Hardhats bringing in runs. The defense remained sharp as ever, with no errors for the second straight game and another double play to back up their pitchers.

Looking Ahead

Last night’s doubleheader was a complete team effort and a sign that Post 22 is hitting their stride early this season. With energy in the dugout, confidence on the field, and depth on the mound, the Hardhats continue to prove they’re a very enjoyable team to watch.

They’ll be back at home Saturday at 2pm for another matchup with the CBC Oilers.
