RAPID CITY, S.D. — South Dakota Wildland Fire and the South Dakota Highway Patrol are holding their inaugural “Pistols and Pulaskis Blood Drive” on Friday, Nov. 21, in Rapid City to help boost blood donations in the Black Hills.

The two agencies, both part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, are framing the event as a friendly competition, inviting community members to donate blood and cast a vote for either the Wildland Fire or Highway Patrol teams. The agency that secures the most donations will earn bragging rights for the year.

The Vitalant blood drive will run from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Rapid City Outdoor Campus building, located at 4130 Adventure Trail. Blood collection is typically lower during the winter months, making the event an important opportunity for giving back.

Appointments are encouraged due to limited availability.
