RAPID CITY, S.D. — Community members, industry representatives and state officials gathered Wednesday for the ribbon cutting of the new Pete Lien & Sons Shooting Sports Complex.
South Dakota Gov. Larry Rhoden attended the event alongside Pete Lien of Pete Lien & Sons. Representatives from several major firearms companies, including Glock, Smith & Wesson, Sig Sauer and M&P Firearms, were also present. Members of the Friends of the NRA and other shooting sports organizations took part in the celebration.
The day included live shooting demonstrations and a shooting competition featuring a new rifle from Luth-AR of Buffalo, Minnesota. Participants competed to achieve the tightest three-shot grouping.
Following the ceremony, guests were invited to tour the new facility, participate in trap shooting and attend a banquet.
The ribbon cutting featured remarks from several individuals involved in the development of the complex. The event concluded with a unique display — Gov. Rhoden fired a perfect shot at a target that fell and cut the ceremonial ribbon.
