Pennington County is moving forward with the relocation of its Administration Building to 900 Concourse Drive. The county anticipates the move to be completed by fall 2025, with several key administrative departments transitioning to the new facility.
Departments slated to move include the Auditor’s Office, Board of Commissioners Office and Chambers, Equalization, Human Resources, Information Technology, Planning & Zoning, Register of Deeds, and the Treasurer’s Office. Construction on the new building is reportedly on schedule.
To help Rapid City residents and those in the Black Hills region of South Dakota locate the future building, Pennington County has released a route map and recent progress photos. These materials were made available as attachments with the county’s update. Photos of the new facility were taken on July 14, 2025.
“We recognize that the new location at 900 Concourse Dr. may be unfamiliar to some residents,” said Davis Purcell, Director of Buildings and Grounds. “By providing a clear route map, we want to make it easier for the community to find the new building as we prepare for the transition.”
