
BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) — Cole Payton has led North Dakota State to a 38-7 victory over South Dakota State, securing their second straight Dakota Marker trophy.
The Bison, defending national champions, remain undefeated this season.
On Saturday night, Payton accounted for 380 yards and four touchdowns.
The Bison snapped a two-game losing streak at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium, marking their first win there since 2019. The game was the 10th No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup in FCS history.
North Dakota State scored on five of six possessions in the first half, building a 31-7 lead and finishing with 500 yards of offense.
