Russell Williams, 58, of Hettinger, ND, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025.
Russell Ray Williams passed away in his home with his family by his side on September 22, 2025, after a long battle of cancer. Russell was born on September 29, 1966, in Hettinger, ND to Raymond and Betty Williams. He grew up on the same ranch his grandparents Harry and Pauline Williams homesteaded, Williams Ranch, near Lemmon, South Dakota, with his sister Sara D’Inecco.
He married the love of his life, Roberta Williams on June 30, 1991. This union created two children, Lexy Bay in 1994 and Reece Ray in 2000. Russell and Roberta continued to pursue their passion for ranching with their two children. He took a break from ranching and pursued a career driving a fuel truck from 2011 to 2021 before returning to his true passion of ranching. He could do most things on the ranch from cows to machinery. Russ had a love and true passion for the land. He thanked the Lord every day for this blessing. He always enjoyed motorcycles, hunting, music, jokes, and instilling the love he had for his home to his children.
Russ loved spending time with his kids more than anything. When he wasn’t working, he was helping with homework, horses or dirt bikes. He spent endless hours practicing with his kids until dark. He always believed if you start something you finish it. The kids were very involved in motocross, rodeo, 4-H, and sports- he and Roberta managed as a team to get them to many events. The last few years of his life he was proud to be called “Papa” by his three young grandchildren Blair, Rhett, and Ellis. Russ had an obsession for music, and you could usually find him listening to his favorite artists in his free time.
Russell is survived by his wife Roberta Williams of Hettinger ND, his children Lexy (Samuel) Boldon Chadron, NE and Reece (Megan)Williams Lodgepole, SD his grandchildren Blair Boldon, Rhett Williams, Ellis Boldon, his sister Sara D’Inecco Denver CO, and his Mother in Law, Vesta Frank New Castle WY, as well as several other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Betty Williams, Infant brother Vance Williams, Grandparents Harry & Pauline Williams, Robert & Nora Hoffman, Father in Law Lavern Frank, Brother in Laws James D’Inecco, Jesse Frank, Jody Frank, Matt Himrich, Joe Haggerty, Sister in Law Stacey Frank, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Prince of Peace Chapel of the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon, SD.
