Robin Jean Bennett

Robin Jean Bennett, 65, of Belle Fourche, South Dakota passed away at home on September 16, 2025.

Robin was born on June 23, 1960, in Belle Fourche to Norma Jean Huckins and Daniel Spears. She attended school in Montana, Hulett, Sturgis, and Lead.

In October 1975, she met the love of her life, Lester Bennett. They were married on May 7, 1977, and resided in Lead. Lester and Robin welcomed daughter, Cherish and son, Shaun in Deadwood. The Bennett’s moved their family to Rock Springs, Wyoming in 1980 to pursue work in the oil fields. Work in the logging industry brought the young family back to South Dakota in 1983. And it was back in South Dakota that they welcomed Sherry and Shane to the family.

In 1987 the family home was purchased in Belle Fourche. That home was where Robin would host the family for holidays and other events. It was a gathering place where all were welcome; she opened her home, even when others would not. Robin’s home was where a meal and a bed were always available if needed. She made sure you knew that you always had a home, no matter the circumstances.

Robin was caring, level headed, and kind. She could empathize with anyone. She would listen and not judge. Robin was soft yet strong enough to stand up for herself and others. She was a voice for those who didn’t have one. Robin saw the good in everyone and was able to bring the best out in them. She was a very forgiving person who was unable to hate anyone. During chaos and tragedy, she was truly the calm in the storm.

Robin loved to support her family, children, and grandchildren. She attended many music, sports (she had a love for wrestling and football), and other school activities over the years. She also enjoyed canning and food preservation, reading and writing, music and dancing, horses, playing her guitar, camping, lake days with the jet skis, and traveling to college events. Robin had a tremendous love of children. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the focus of her existence.

Her memory will be cherished by her husband, Lester Bennett; daughter, Cherish Bennett (Josh Madison); son, Shaun Bennett; daughter, Sherry Bennett; son, Shane Bennett (Chelsey Volin); grandchildren, Mercedes, Haylee, Kylee, Gunner, Jaden, Evin, Shevi, Rachel and Ryder; sisters, Terri Dunnahoe and Tammy Knaub; mother-in-law, Donna Sexton; and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and in-laws.

Robin was welcomed into heaven by her mother, Norma Jean Dexter; step-father, Roger Dexter; father-in-law, Floyd Bennett; sister-in-law, Winona Bennett; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be Monday, September 22, 2025, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. Funeral services will be at the funeral home, Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 10:00 am with burial to follow at Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
