Robert Carl Parsons (Rob), 72, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 27, 2025 in Casper, WY. Rob was born in Belle Fourche, SD to Verne and Betty (Klein) Parsons on August 2, 1953.
Rob grew up in St Onge, SD where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep love for life. Rob’s life growing up had many adventures. He didn’t do well in hunting. In his late teens Rob and a friend bumped into a buck with a car. Fearing it was dead and with no license they put the deer in the back seat. The deer was only knocked out. When it came to, it must have been quite a sight! They hurried to find a place to stop and let the buck out!
After graduating from Spearfish High School in 1972, Rob started a career at Federal Bentonite Co in Colony, WY as a lab technician. He later moved the family to Casper, WY in 1984 where he continued his career with Black Hills Bentonite. His career allowed him to travel to many states and including Japan while working on many projects. He retired after 38 years of dedicated service.
Rob married his high school sweetheart, Judy (Grohmann) Parsons on August 18, 1972. They met in a parking lot in Spearfish, SD. Judy was running around Spearfish with her friends. One of her friends knew Mike who was driving the car with Rob in the passenger seat. Her friend wanted to chat with Mike, so they waved them to pull over. Judy was in the front seat and decided to go over to talk to Rob. They ended up going to Spearfish Park. The next week the girls went back to Spearfish to look for Rob. Rob and his friends went to Belle Fourche to look for Judy. They ended up finding each other again at a little restaurant outside of Belle and started dating. Together Rob and Judy raised two daughters, Michele Parsons and Heather Parsons. Rob was a devoted loving father and enjoyed every aspect of being a dad, grandfather and great grandfather.
Rob spent his retirement with a camera in his hand. He loved taking pictures which ranged from birds to landscapes. A robin’s nest outside of the front door provided photos of stages of life from the eggs hatching to the flying off of the young robins. He enjoyed exploring new places especially on his ATV. He recently became interested in genealogy and loved discovering information on extended family branches. He enjoyed being with family and friends and was willing to travel to visit even if it was just for a cup of coffee and a donut. His laughter would light up any room.
He adored animals and all types would flock to him no matter where he went. As I am typing this I see one of the rabbits that would greet him in the back yard every morning.
Rob’s legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of his family and those who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his wife, Judy Parsons, Casper, his daughter, Heather Parsons (Charlie Poole), grandchildren Trevor (Cheyanne) Trujillo and Abigail Poole, great grandchildren, Adalynne and Madilynn Trujillo. Also surviving Rob are his siblings, Joyce (Doug) Schumacher, Rapid City, SD, Harley (Winifred) Parsons, Newcastle, Wy, Jan (Brad) Bachman, Rapid City, SD and Larry (Laura) Parsons, Whitewood, SD and numerous nephews and nieces.
Rob was preceded in death by his parents, Verne and Betty Parsons and his daughter, Michele Parsons.
Family was Rob’s world. He was always taking care of everyone and will be deeply missed.
