Milo was born in Mobridge, SD. on July 23rd 1946 to Homer and Dora (Gunville) LeBeau. He was the second child of 7 children. He grew up at the Old Cheyenne Agency, SD as well as Bear Creek, S.D and Eagle Butte, SD. He is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. He graduated from Cheyenne Eagle Butte High School in May of 1964. After high school, Milo enlisted in the United Stated Marine Corps in 1965 and was Honorably discharged in 1972. He then attended college in San Francisco, CA and Denver, CO. Throughout his life, Milo held a variety of jobs. He was a talented artist and enjoyed painting, sculpting, and wood work. He was a quiet man that kept to himself but did enjoy getting together with his family and friends.
In 2013, Milo was diagnosed with Dementia. Shortly after, his family helped move him to Hot Springs, SD where he lived in the Michael J. Fitzmaurice South Dakota Veterans Home until his passing. While residing in the Veteran’s Home, he was able to attend and enjoy many different activities. He was cared for and loved by many wonderful staff members. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for all staff at the Veteran’s Home, he was so well cared for and was able to fully enjoy his last years with a wonderful second family.
Milo is survived by his 3 sisters; Lalani (Richard) Reum of Pierre, SD, Diana LeBeau of Menoken, ND, and Glenna Yellow Fat of Kenel, SD. He is also survived by many loving nephews and nieces.
He was proceeded in death by his parents: Homer and Dora LeBeau; Brothers: John, Stewart, and Doyce LeBeau; Nephews: John Jr. LeBeau, Charles James Dog Eagle, Jordan LeBeau, and Lennick Dean Mike; Niece: Jackie LeBeau; and Brother-In-Law: Rodney (R.J) Yellow Fat; sister-in-law, Ellen Pridemore-LeBeau.
Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 25, 11:00 a.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel, Sturgis, SD, with funeral services to follow at 12:00 noon.
Interment, with military honors, be at Black Hills National Cemetery.
