Mary Alice Keyser

Mary Alice Henrickson was born March 6, 1937, at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. George Dewey and Alice (Fedje) Hendrickson of Philip, South Dakota adopted her at the age of two months. She grew up in the Philip area and graduated from Philip High School prior to attending one semester of college at Huron College.

Mary Alice was united in marriage to Donald Lee Keyser on February 4, 1956, in Philip, South Dakota, and to this union three children were born: Karen, Donna, and Doug.

They made their home in Brookings for four years prior to living in North Dakota and in various places in South Dakota. In 1989, they retired and moved to Rapid City. Her husband Donald Keyser preceded her in death on February 19, 2016.

Mary was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Rapid City, and former member of Abagail Circle and Altar Guild. She was also a member of Esther Bible Study and Combined Bible Study at Trinity Church. She was a Sunday School teacher and Girl Scout assistant leader while the girls were actively in Girl Scouts

Mary continued to make her home in Rapid City until moving into the Silverleaf Assisted Living Center in Philip in August 2023, where she resided before later moving into the Scotchman Living Center in May 2024.

Grateful for having shared her life are two daughters, Karen (Mark) Nelson, Philip, and Donna Cole, Presho; one son, Doug (Teresa) Keyser, Rapid City; five grandchildren, Jeremy Cole, Beth Cole; Kathleen Nelson, Brady Keyser and Shelby (AJ) Keyser; four great-grandsons, Gage Alan Cole Moore, Tristan Jeremy Fane Cole, Mason James Langenbau, and Kylen Cole; four great-granddaughters: Audrie Peterson, Marlee Lea Langenbau, Jayden Mae Nelson, and MaKenzie Lynn Langenbau; two step-great-granddaughters, Stevie Lane and Ember Lane; sisters-in-law Beverly Hendrickson and Gale Keyser; brother-in-law David (Claudia) Keyser; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband Donald Keyser, Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter Megan Jo Keyser; a grandson Jonathan Burroughs; brother Fred Hendrickson; three aunts Beatrice, Adeline, and Winifred Fedje; and maternal and paternal grandparents Peter Fred and Christina Hendrickson and Ole and Hanna Fedje.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church Radio Broadcast and Trinity Lutheran Altar Guild.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 4, from 6-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church 402 Kansas City Street Rapid City, SD 57701.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church 402 Kansas City Street Rapid City, SD 57701.

Interment will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2024 at the Masonic Cemetery in Philip.
