Kathleen (Kitty) Baumann Nordstrom

Kathleen (Kitty) Baumann Nordstrom, 87, was born November 12, 1936, in Mobridge, South Dakota to Calvin and Ione (Mulder) Baumann and passed away August 31, 2024, in the loving hands of an awesome staff at Belle Estate.

Kitty grew up on a ranch and after marriage to Lloyd they traveled throughout South Dakota and many nearby states as Lloyd contributed to the building of the interstate and highway systems. Her contribution was caring for us as Dad worked long hours. When Lloyd accepted a position as Field Superintendent at American Colloid in Belle Fourche in1969 Kitty began working outside the home. Many will remember her from hot lunch, The Hub, Western Way, Dunwoody Jewelry and Hilltop Drive-In.

Her life was devoted to her family and attending events for grandchildren and great grandchildren were highlights in her life. Later in her life she found a love of oil painting and shared that passion with others as a teacher.

Kitty was the beloved mother of Jacki Weidensee (Dave) and Lynn Olson (Duane), cherished grandmother of Jason Riley (Hailey), Heath Olson (Emily), Dusty Olson (Koral), and Alex Weidensee and “Great” to Tate Olson, Trigg Olson, Ava Olson, Jett Olson, Keegan Riley, Hudson Riley, and Brendan Riley.

Dear sister to Jerry Baumann (Carolyn) and sister-in-law to Cindy Stroot (Hal). Well loved and respected by her nieces and nephews and bonus family, friends, and church community and “Grandma Kitty” to many friends of the grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lloyd, son-in-law Duane, brother Dennis and sister Pat.

Services will be Saturday, September 28th , 1:30 at St James Lutheran Church, Belle Fourche, SD. Inurnment will take place at Pine Slope Cemetery. Following the service and inurnment, coffee and desserts will be served at the church by the ladies of the church.

Kitty enjoyed serving and donating to Belle Fourche Compassion Cupboard with her friends Leone, Diane, and Kenny. Memorials may be sent to that organization Christian Life Center, 2020 Vista Street, Belle Fourche, SD 57717.
