Karin L Chipman, 77, Sturgis, passed away Friday, March 21, 2025 at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital.
Memorial services for Karin will be at 11 am, Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Lead.
Inurnment will be in Oakridge Cemetery.
Karin Lee Cook, was born February 23, 1948 at Lemmon, SD to Donald and Clara (Busk) Cook. Her family moved around in her early years, being raised in Hettinger and Haynes, North Dakota before settling in McIntosh, SD, where she graduated from high school. After high school, she married Larry Jacobs in McIntosh. A short time after that, they moved to Deadwood, where she raised her three blessings, Chad, Terrie, and Rick. As the children got older, she accepted a position with Safeway in Deadwood, where she worked for nearly 30 years.
Karin married the love of her life David Chipman on June 6, 1992 at their home in Boulder Canyon. She retired from Safeway and did childcare for some of her grandchildren, then started her own cleaning business before finally retiring and staying home.
She enjoyed camping, boating, walking, reading, puzzles, and her favorite poker machines in Deadwood, but her greatest passion and accomplishments were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We will miss her every day, but her memory will never fade away.
Survivors include her husband, David Chipman, Sturgis; children, Chad (Michelle) Jacobs, Lead, Terrie (Paul) Crawford, Rapid City and Rick (Brandy) Jacobs, Sturgis; David’s children, Lori (Tom) Fredericksen, Colorado, Angie (Ron) DeYoung, Whitewood, Josh (Amber) Chipman, Lead; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; one sister, Kathy Noon, Bismarck, ND; along with numerous nieces.
Karin was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, George Cook and Kenny Cook.
