Joyce Hilden went home to be with her Lord on June 14, 2025.
Joyce was born on June 11, 1929 in Coleman, SD, to Albert and Alvina Olson. She grew up on a farm outside of Nunda, SD during the depression and World War II. She learned the value of hard work and working together as a family.
She married Floyd Hilden in 1948. They had three children, Floyd Jr. Deborah, and David.
Joyce had many interests and talents. She enjoyed woodworking, sewing, and painting. She also was very handy with DIY projects around the house and even did some shingling.
Her faith was very important to her. During her last days, she asked the Lord to take her home in her sleep.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Marvin) Jensen; youngest brother, Carrol (June) Olson; sisters-in-law, Betty Olson, Mary Ann Olson, numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Albert and Alvina Olson; three brothers, David Olson, Ivan Olson, and Vernon Olson; husband, Floyd Hilden; sons, Floyd Hilden Jr., David Hilden; and special friend, Jim Sternhagen.
She will be greatly missed
In a lieu of flowers, the family would like any memorials to be sent to the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Lead, SD.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00AM Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Lead, SD. Burial will follow the service at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Deadwood, SD.
Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish.
