Josephine Jerone Blocker

Josephine Jerone Blocker, aged 90, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on November 15, 2024, in Rapid City, SD. Born on January 1, 1934, in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada Josephine’s journey through life was marked by her enduring warmth, her love for her family, and her generous spirit.

Josephine’s formative years were spent in her hometown where she graduated from Corner Brook Newfoundland High School. Her early life in the Newfoundland laid the foundation for a lifetime of education, not in the classroom, but in the world around her. Josephine’s true vocation was as a dedicated housewife and mother, roles she embraced with all her heart. In the early 1970s, she took the significant step of becoming a United States citizen, an event that filled her with pride and opened a new chapter in her life.

She was the beloved matriarch of her family, providing a warm and loving home for her children and later, her grandchildren. Josephine is survived by her devoted daughter, Lori (Dennis) Berg, her sons, Roger (Alice) Blocker and Paul Blocker, her cherished six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger Blocker Sr., and her dear son, Danny Blocker.

Josephine had a passion for cooking and was renowned for her ability to bring people together, especially during the holidays. Her home was the hub of warmth and laughter, where memories were made and traditions were born. Her grandchildren were the recipients of her boundless love and affection, often spoiled in the most delightful ways, a testament to her generous and loving nature.

A woman of many virtues, Josephine was best described as loving, kind, and generous. She had the unique ability to make each person feel special and valued, a quality that endeared her to many. Her kindness extended beyond her family, touching the lives of friends and acquaintances alike. Her generosity knew no bounds; her door was always open, her table always set.

Reflecting on her life, Josephine embodied the wisdom of Mother Teresa’s words, “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” In every small act of kindness, every meal prepared with care, and every grandchild’s laughter she cherished, Josephine did indeed do great things with great love.

Josephine’s legacy is a tapestry of love, kindness, and generosity that will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her, yet her spirit will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends.

As we bid farewell to Josephine Jerone Blocker, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a heart so generously shared. Her life was a testament to the enduring power of love and the profound impact of a life dedicated to family. Rest in peace, Josephine; your love will forever be our guide.
