George Elmer Tulowetzke

George Elmer Tulowetzke, 91, of Rapid City South Dakota, passed away on September 4th, 2025, at Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veteran’s Home in Hot Springs SD.

George Tulowetzke was born in Milbank, SD to Elmer and Maria (Schuchard) Tulowetzke February 13th, 1934. While in the service he got his GED. George married LaVonne Hansvold on May 3, 1963, at Webster SD. He was a veteran of the Vietnam war and Korean war and served in the Air Force and was awarded a bronze star as well as many other awards. George Worked as an electrical maintenance for Rapid City Area schools for 21 years. He was involved in TREA and was an active member of the Catholic Church in Rapid City.

In active duty for 20+ years he got to travel to a lot of places. Some of the places he talked about the most were Germany and the Azores. George liked to hunt and fish. His favorite hunting spot was in Hettinger, North Dakota with ArNeil Erlenbusch, and fishing his ‘spot’ in Mobridge, South Dakota. He was a fixer, spent a lot of time in the garage, and enjoyed working on projects.

Grateful for sharing his life are his sons, Thomas Tulowetzke (Paula Marzolf) of Rapid City, SD, and Andy Tulowetzke of Canon City, CO, daughter, Kathy (Mark) Miller of Indiana, sisters, Verna Reiners of Sioux Falls, SD, Donna Kasuske of Milbank, SD, and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

George is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lavonne Tulowetzke, his brothers, Dale Tulowetzke and John Tulowetzke, his children Mary Ann Hunter and Rose (Joe) Digmann.
