Francie Sanders

Francie held many important titles; wife, mom, sister, aunt and friend. But her most cherished title was Nana.

Born on March 8, 1952, and was raised alongside her 11 brothers and sisters in Belflower, CA. She later met Norman Sanders and they were wed in January of 1978 in Las Vegas, NV.

In 1980, Norman and Francie decided to move to Enning, SD. There they made a home, ranched and raised their two kids, Kim and Jason. Francie had a beautiful personality and a sense of humor that matched her spark. She made friends everywhere she went.

After Norman was diagnosed with cancer, they made the decision to sell the ranch and move to Rapid City. After moving, she began babysitting four beautiful girls; Rylee, Paiton, Emmie and Finley. That is where she first earned the title of Nana as well as “The Queen”. In June of 2015, her role as Nana was expanded when her grandson, Sloan entered her world.

Francie was the Queen of Shad Street and loved her neighbors. From potlucks to fire pits, she loved it all.

Francie fought a brave battle with cancer, often with a smile on her face. She earned her angel wings on August 21, 2025. She is survived by many and will be missed by all. Francie was a one-of-a-kind lady and The Queen’s loss will be felt far and wide.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27th, 2025 at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, SD from 5pm-7pm. The funeral will take place on Thursday, August 28th, 2025 at Kinkade Funeral Chapel beginning at 11:00. Burial to follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.
