Diane Carol Reid

Diane Carol Reid, a cherished soul who graced this world with her presence, left us peacefully on June 2, 2025, at the age of 77. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on March 21, 1948, Diane’s life journey came full circle as she passed away surrounded by love in Rapid City, South Dakota, succumbing to natural causes.

Diane was a beacon of kindness and generosity, touching the lives of all who knew her. She was a testament to the enduring spirit of love and family, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and thoughtfulness. Her two devoted sons, Greg Reid, and Jeff (Silvia) Reid will carry forward the light of her memory. Her spirit will continue to shine in the eyes of her six adored grandchildren, Allie, Dawson, William, Jessica, Isabella Reid, and Caitlin Wellmon. Diane’s brothers, Rick and Bob Londo, will miss her deeply, holding onto the countless cherished moments they shared.

Her journey through life was marked by the loss of her beloved husband, Raymond Reid, in 2019. Yet, through her grief, Diane remained a pillar of strength, exemplifying the resilience of the human spirit.

Diane’s education was grounded in the real-world experiences of the ‘school of hard knocks,’ which taught her the value of perseverance and hard work. She brought these lessons to her career at General Motors, where she played a vital role in installing electronic chips in automobiles. Diane’s commitment to her community was evident through her steadfast volunteer work at St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche. Her service to others was a reflection of her unwavering faith and her desire to contribute to the world around her.

An avid angler, Diane found solace and joy in the tranquil waters where she loved to fish. She was a familiar face at the Deadwood Casinos, enjoying the vibrant energy and the camaraderie of fellow patrons. Diane’s love for the sun-kissed beaches of San Diego and Florida was matched only by her love for spending quality time with her friends, family, and her loyal dog, Sedona.

As we remember Diane, we are reminded of the words of Maya Angelou, who once said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Diane made us all feel loved, appreciated, and valued. Her kind, generous, and thoughtful nature will be the guiding force for those who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her life.

Let us hold dear the memories of Diane Carol Reid, a remarkable woman whose essence will forever be etched in our hearts. Her story does not end with her passing, for the love she gave and the lives she influenced will continue to flourish for generations to come.

Memorial services will be held Friday, 1:30 pm June 6, 2025 at St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche, SD with Synod Authorized Minister, Ronda Mehrer officiating. A private family graveside service will be held at Pine Slope Cemetery.
