David B. Freeland, 63, Spearfish, SD passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025 at his home.
Memorial Services for David will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, February 24, 2025 at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
David Bryon Freeland was born October 16, 1961 to Wayne and Dorothy (Tryon) Freeland. He was raised in Nevada Gulch outside Lead, graduating from Lead-Deadwood High School. He went on to attend Black Hills State College. While attending Black Hills State, he worked at Spearfish Pizza Hut, becoming the manager for a few years. He then went on to a career selling cars, first working as a salesman at Rapid Chevrolet for a few years, before returning to Spearfish becoming a salesman at Queen City Motors for nearly 20 years.
Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing and touring the Black Hills in his side by side. He was probably the happiest driving his old green Chevy pickup.
One of David’s proudest accomplishments was being active in the Boy Scouts achieving Eagle Scout in 1978.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Dorothy Freeland and a brother Phillip “Doc” Dachtler.
Survivors include three brothers, Larry Dachtler, Howard Dachtler and Wayne Dachtler; his niece and nephews, Lisa Dachtler, Eric Dachtler and Brian Dachtler.
