Cynthia Ann Letellier was born on November 20th, 1947 in Watertown, SD to Erma Lauseng. Her Mother would marry Berneil Christofferson, the man she would call her father in 1955. They resided in Watertown until moving to Rapid City, SD in 1965 where her father would be promoted to plant supervisor at SD Concrete Products. She attended Greens Beauty College and while she was forced to quit because of allergies, she was wonderful with hair and makeup. She would often cut hair for the family.
Cindy was married to Marvis Letellier in June of 1983. They welcomed their daughter Nicole in October of 1983 and resided in Rapid Valley until moving back to Kadoka in 1987 to live the country life and run the ranch. She was a homemaker for many years, raising her daughter and helping her husband with the cattle and in the fields. She held many jobs over the years. She worked in the office at SD Concrete Products and was also an insurance sales rep for a number of years. With her love of computers, people, and news she found her true calling at the Kadoka Press in Kadoka and worked there for 17 years. She also took a second part-time job at Discount Fuel and worked in the kitchen for several years in the evenings after her day at the Press.
Cindy was truly a jack of all trades, there was nothing she couldn’t do if she put her mind to it. She was the ultimate when it came to DIY, taking on many household renovations and other projects with the attention to detail that would reflect that of a professional job. She took great pride in her home, her yard, and her family. Her talents were truly limitless. She loved to sew and make clothes, she even made maternity clothes for her sister when she was expecting her own children. One of her more challenging pass times, that she enjoyed a great deal, was working on and fixing computers. If a friend or family member was experiencing an issue with their computer, she would work tirelessly at times for days to get them back up and running again.
Cindy was a cousin to the great Terry Redlin on her biological fathers’ side and while she never knew any of the family, the talent was passed on to her. She would often do sketches and showed great promise as an artist herself. She enjoyed making funny posters more than serious drawings and would gift them to friends. She was very witty and comical and always shined in her sense of humor. Her greatest joy in life though was her family and her friends, especially her three grandchildren. She loved fiercely and with her whole heart. If you were loved by Cindy, you never had to doubt it. She would have tried to turn the tides to help you if it had been in her power to do so. She will be greatly missed by many whose lives she touched. Cindy had great faith in her Lord and Savior. In times of sorrow and doubt, she would give it all to God and always encouraged others to do the same. He called her home to him on February 20th, 2025 and those of us who loved her so can take solace in knowing that she is at peace in the arms of the Lord.
Cynthia is survived by her husband Marvis Letellier of Kadoka; daugher, Nicole and her husband David Huber of Parmelee; grandchildren, Braeden, Bradley and Isabella Huber; sister, Karen and her husband Randy Mack of Blackhawk; nephew, Jeremy and his wife Jen Schaeffer of Piedmont; and numerous great nieces, cousins, and a great nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Berneil and Erma Christofferson; brother, Randy Redlin; and nephew Jamie Schaeffer.
