NEW UNDERWOOD, S.D. – New Underwood High School has been selected as one of the first 450 schools nationwide to receive a $5,000 prize as part of the T-Mobile Friday Night 5G Lights program, a major initiative aimed at supporting small-town high school football communities across America.

The program, now in its second year, has a total of $4 million in prizes. New Underwood High School’s football program will receive the $5,000 to use for equipment, gear, or other expenses.

The school is now in the running for the grand prize, a $1 million football field technology makeover, a renovated weight room from Gronk Fitness, and an all-expense-paid trip to the SEC Championship, among other prizes.

To win the grand prize, community engagement and participation are essential. Residents of the Black Hills and surrounding areas can support New Underwood High School by visiting the program’s website, FridayNight5GLights.com, before the September 12 submission deadline.
