PIEDMONT, S.D. – The Meade County Sheriff’s Office says Thursday was a fantastic day at Piedmont Valley Elementary!

They had the pleasure of unveiling the new SRO vehicle, marking a special collaboration between the school and the Meade County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Pat West, along with Deputy Ness, joined the ceremony to introduce the new vehicle to the students, who played a key role in its design.

Earlier this school year, students were invited to create graphics for the new vehicle. After the designs were submitted, local artist Joe Johns brought them to life in the impressive final design unveiled today.

The PVE PTA generously supported this project with funds raised from the Fall Festival.

“This is a great day for the students and staff at PVE,” said Sheriff Pat West. “It reflects our dedication to engaging with the schools and the community, especially when it comes to our most valuable resource—our kids!”

After the unveiling, Deputy Ness received a pie in the face as part of the fundraising efforts that made this project possible.
