RAPID CITY, S.D. – At Monday night’s meeting of the Rapid City Council, five individuals were sworn in for new three-year terms. Each member of the group was elected at last month’s municipal election and includes newcomers Stephen Tamang and Callie Meyer.

Finance Director Daniel Ainslie administered the oaths of office to Tamang (Ward One), Bill Evans (Ward Two), Greg Strommen (Ward Three), Lance Lehmann (Ward Four) and Meyer (Ward Five). They join Josh Biberdorf (Ward One), Lindsey Seachris (Ward Two), Kevin Maher (Ward Three), John Roberts (Ward Four) and Rod Pettigrew (Ward Five), who enter the new term with one year remaining in their current three-year terms.

The first order of business for the newly-seated Council was the election of the Council president and vice president for the next year. Pettigrew, who has served on the City Council since 2023, was elected president and Bill Evans, a member of the Council since 2019, was elected vice president for the 2025-26 Council term.

Mayor Jason Salamun also recognized departing Council members Pat Roseland and Jesse Ham for their service to the City Council and Rapid City community.
