Dodgers’ Teoscar Hernández says ‘nobody to blame but myself’ for his role in weird NLCS double play

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernández says he watched a replay of the bizarre double play from Game 1 of the NL Championship Series only one time as the clip went viral across social media.  The Dodgers won 2-1 in Game 1 despite running into an unsual 8-6-2 double play. Hernández said ‘there’s nobody to blame but myself’ for his baserunning mistake.  Hernández was on third when Max Muncy hit a drive that popped out of center fielder Sal Frelick’s glove, hit the wall and popped in the air before Frelick got it. The Brewers forced Hernández out at home.

Andy Kohlberg, the owner of Spanish soccer club Mallorca, warns that FIFA’s ticket pricing for the next World Cup could harm the sport’s image. Speaking on Tuesday, he noted that the message so far has been mainly negative. FIFA has not released a full ticket price grid, only stating that the most expensive seat is $6,730 and the cheapest is $60. Hospitality tickets reach up to $73,200. Kohlberg emphasizes the need to balance catering to mainstream fans with offering premium experiences. He also comments on La Liga’s controversial decision to move a match to the U.S., urging caution in such decisions.

Lawyers for the Angels and Skaggs’ family will address the jury in this civil trial. The lawsuit alleges the team knew or should have known that its communications director, Eric Kay, was supplying drugs to Skaggs and other players. The Angels argue Skaggs’ actions were his own and not preventable by the team. The trial could include testimony from players like Mike Trout and Wade Miley.

No Hail Mary magic this time and Moody’s last-play kick lifts the Bears past the Commanders 25-24

It wasn’t quite the same drama as the Hail Mary that decided these teams’ game a year ago, but Caleb Williams and the Bears did get the better of Jayden Daniels and the Commanders on a final-play score this time. Chicago defeated Washington 25-24 on Jake Moody’s 38-yard field goal Monday night. The Bears extended their winning streak to three games under first-year coach Ben Johnson. Washington continued its pattern of alternating wins and losses in 2025 and flopped with a chance to pull even with the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles atop the NFC East.

Brewers turn potential grand slam by Dodgers slugger Max Muncy into wild double play in NLCS

Los Angeles’ Max Muncy was inches away from hitting a grand slam to open the scoring in the NL Championship Series on Monday. It instead turned into one of the most unusual double plays in postseason history. Milwaukee’s Sal Frelick nearly robbed Muncy of a homer before the ball popped out of his glove and hit the wall. The Dodgers runners were caught flat-footed without apparently knowing whether the ball was caught. The Brewers then forced out runners at the plate and at third base.

Stars coach Glen Gulutzan has repeatedly said that he wants them to compete more in every aspect. That message was prominent even after Dallas won its first two games on the road against division opponents it also beat in the playoffs last season. The Stars finished practice Monday with players going through a 1-on-1 drill battling for pucks. Dallas plays its home opener Tuesday night against Minnesota. It will be Gulutzan’s first game behind the Stars bench since the 2013 season finale, before he was fired by then-new general manager Jim Nill. Brian Branch’s punch to JuJu Smith-Schuster sparked a brief fight among players, and it could very well earn the Detroit safety a hefty fine and a suspension. The fracas came after the Chiefs had shut down the NFL’s highest-scoring offense and moved the ball with ease against the Detroit defense in a game that snapped the Lions’ four-game winning streak.

Unranked Texas looks more like the preseason No. 1 it was in win over rival No. 6 Oklahoma

This certainly looks more like the preseason No. 1 team that Texas was before two early losses sent it plummeting all the way out of the AP Top 25. The Longhorns beat Red River rival sixth-ranked Oklahoma 23-6 on Saturday. It saves their season for now. The 4-2 Longhorns should be back in the next AP poll Sunday. More importantly, they avoided a loss that likely would have ended any realistic chance of getting into the College Football Playoff for the third year in a row.

Hamlin’s controversial move: Did he make the right call in NASCAR playoffs?

Denny Hamlin has sparked controversy in NASCAR’s playoffs after passing Ross Chastain on the final lap, knocking him out of contention. The move allowed Joey Logano to advance, drawing criticism because Logano and teammate Ryan Blaney have dominated recent championships. The third round begins Sunday in Las Vegas with eight drivers from top teams. NASCAR is closely monitoring race manipulation, especially after last weekend’s events at Charlotte. Officials say they would have acted if Hamlin had been instructed not to pass Chastain. Meanwhile, NASCAR plans to increase horsepower for next season, responding to demand from drivers and fans.

Tigers turning to Tarik Skubal in Seattle for winner-take-all Game 5 of ALDS

Even after blowing a three-run lead in Detroit with a chance to clinch the AL Division Series, the Seattle Mariners can redeem themselves at home in a winner-take-all Game 5 on Friday. One problem: they’ll need to get the better of Tigers ace Tarik Skubal again. The reigning AL Cy Young Award winner allowed just two solo homers to Jorge Polanco across seven innings in Game 2, but the Mariners squeaked out a 3-2 victory that tied the series. In fact, all three times Skubal has started against Seattle this year, the Mariners have won. The left-hander has a 4.58 ERA in those games, more than twice as high as his regular-season mark of 2.21.
