Authorities have released the name of the individual who died in a single-vehicle crash Saturday evening, approximately 15 miles south of Lemmon. Derek Nells Myhre, 49, of Box Elder, South Dakota, sustained fatal injuries in the incident.
The crash occurred at approximately 7:55 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025, on South Cabin Road, five miles west of South Dakota Highway 73.
Preliminary findings from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicate that Myhre was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on South Cabin Road when the vehicle left the roadway at a curve and rolled. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Myre was reported to not be wearing a seatbelt.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the crash. All information released at this time remains preliminary.
