Motorists Come to Aid in Highway 16 Crash

RAPID CITY, S.D. — A two-vehicle collision on Highway 16 near the intersection of Promise Road in Rapid City caused traffic delays and drew concerned motorists to the scene late Tuesday afternoon. The accident, involving a white SUV and a blue coupe, occurred shortly after 5 p.m.

Authorities have not yet released an official report, but according to witnesses at the scene, the male driver of the blue coupe reported minor chest pains. He appeared otherwise uninjured. The female driver of the white SUV seemed unharmed and was not interviewed by initial responders or bystanders.

Airbags deployed in both vehicles. The blue coupe sustained significant front-end damage, while the white SUV had noticeable damage to its left side.

Several passing motorists stopped to offer assistance at the scene before emergency services arrived. The extent of any injuries and the cause of the accident are currently under investigation.
