RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Pennington County Treasurer’s Office is facing delays and limited access for some motor vehicle transactions due to a statewide server outage. The issue, which began Wednesday, is impacting services throughout South Dakota.

“We appreciate the public’s patience as the State works to resolve these technical difficulties,” said Annette Brant, Pennington County Treasurer. “Our team remains committed to assisting citizens to the best of our ability during this outage.”

According to a release from the treasurer’s office, the state’s servers are temporarily down, affecting the processing of most motor vehicle services. The state’s BIT technical support team is working to fix the problem.

While the outage is ongoing, some motor vehicle transactions may be delayed or unavailable. The online sign-in option for the treasurer’s office is also temporarily unavailable, and self-service terminals across the state are not functioning.

Real estate transactions are not affected, and residents can still process some motor vehicle services online through the state’s website, My605Drive.sd.gov.

Pennington County Treasurer Annette Brant encourages citizens to still visit the office in Rapid City for assistance. Staff is providing guidance and support to minimize inconvenience.

The Pennington County Treasurer’s Office is located at 130 Kansas City Street and is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
