RAPID CITY, S.D. – Monument Health has announced its pulmonary rehabilitation program has received certification from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). The certification recognizes the program’s commitment to high standards of care for patients in Rapid City and the Black Hills.

AACVPR certification is the only peer-reviewed accreditation process of its kind and is designed to review a program’s adherence to professional standards and guidelines. The application process requires extensive documentation and is reviewed by the AACVPR Program Certification Committee. The certification is valid for three years.

Pulmonary rehabilitation programs are designed to help people with respiratory issues such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) recover faster and improve their quality of life. The programs include exercise, education, counseling and support for patients and their families.

Monument Health’s certification is based on an outcomes-based process with performance measurements that evaluate a program’s effectiveness in providing high quality patient care. AACVPR-certified programs are considered leaders in the field because they offer the most advanced practices available and have a proven track record of high quality patient care.
