RAPID CITY, SD — Dakota Radiology in collaboration with Monument Health broke ground today on a proposed 12,000 square foot expansion to Radiology facilities.
The expansion is expected to add new clinic facilities and a new MRI and PET/CT units, which is projected to expand the availability of treatment to more patients, reducing wait times and eliminating the need for individuals to travel to larger cities in order to receive treatment.
According to Monument Health, the new MRI unit will provide faster scan times, and PET/CT scanner will allow for comprehensive cancer screening at the facility. “with our new MRI scanners, they scan much faster. So when you go actually go into the scanner, you’ll only be in there for maybe 15 minutes instead of maybe a typical 30 minute scan. So patient experience is much better, less claustrophobia.” said Joel Brink (M.D.) Dakota Radiology Medical Director.
The project is being undertaken by Scull Construction, and is expected to be completed within the next year, with estimates for the opening of the facility landing around Sep 30, 2025.
