STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade County Sheriff’s Office reported 152 calls for service in their latest rally stat report.

Deputies made 73 traffic stops, 7 D.U.I. arrests, 4 drug arrests and booked 40 people in to the Meade County Jail on Thursday.

Meade County Sheriff Pat West says they even had a moment Thursday were every ambulance in Sturgis was on call. He says deputies were all hands on deck and says “It takes a symphony of teamwork and resource wrangling to keep everyone safe and handle the influx of folks and, shall we say, “spirited” behavior. Huge props to our team and all our partners for keeping the show on the road!”

Sheriff West and Chief Deputy James Johns also credited the hard work done by county dispatch during Rally Week.

They wrote: “We want to give a shout-out to our amazing behind-the-scenes crew – the dispatchers answering the call, the office staff keeping things running smoothly, and the jail staff treating everyone with care and respect. You’re the unsung heroes who keep this whole rally from going completely off the rails! Thanks to all of you, we’re keeping Meade County as safe as possible for everyone.”
