Meade 46-1 School Board; RC Council election today

STURGIS, S.D. – Voters in the Meade 46-1 School District head to the polls today to decide a school board race.

Today’s election will fill three, 3-year terms on the school board.

The three 3-year terms that are ending are Sandy L. Cass, Justin Jutting, Lee Spring. Additionally, Thomas Schneller was unopposed for a 1-year term.

Candidates running for the three spots include Timothy Amdahl, Sandy Cass (incumbent), Ronald L. Hays, Justin Jutting (incumbent), Lee Spring (incumbent) and Charles Wheeler.

In Rapid City, voters today are selecting races for city council.

Bill Evans, Ward 2, and Greg Strommen, Ward 3, face no opposition and will represent their respective wards for three-year terms when the new city council is sworn in on July 7.

Stephen Tamang and Lawrence “Larry” Adams will compete for the open council seat in Ward 1.

Incumbent Lance Lehmann will be challenged by Eltina Three Stars for the council seat in Ward 4.

Incumbent Pat Roseland will be challenged by Callie Meyer for the council seat in Ward 5.

There is also a race in Area 3 and Area 6 for the Rapid City School Board. Michael Birkeland and Angela Bradsky Rafferty are running for the Area 3 seat while Jamie Clapham and Brian Johnson are running for Area 6.

Polls are open 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. today.
