
STURGIS, S.D. – Meade County Sheriff’s Office deputies and the South Dakota Highway Patrol say a man led them on a high speed chase Friday morning.
The Meade County Sheriff’s Office says they were alerted to the chase by the patrol about a motorcyclist on a sport bike was weaving in and out of traffic on I-90 and traveling at speeds over 100 miles per hour.
Law enforcement say the motorcyclist got off the Interstate several times as the chase went through the Black Hawk, Summerset and Piedmont area.
Authorities say the sport bike eventually ran out of gas and the motorcyclist was taken into custody off I-90’s Exit 44.
No injuries were reported, although the highway patrol and Meade County Sheriff’s Office say the motorcyclist endangered other’s lives, as well as his own, during the incident.
