RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — Rapid City police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 1500 block of Wood Avenue this morning.
Officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 11:15 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities believe the suspect and the victim were acquainted, and preliminary findings suggest the incident was not a random act. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family members.
The Rapid City Police Department is conducting the ongoing homicide investigation in collaboration with the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office. Further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
