RAPID CITY, S.D. – Great Plains Fire Dispatch says fire crews across the Black Hills are working several wildfires that were sparked by lightning overnight.
The Centennial Fire is burning 2 miles south of Keystone in Pennington County. As of Friday afternoon, the fire was listed at a quarter of an acre with federal and state resources battling the blaze.
The Hell Canyon Fire, reported just before 9:00 Friday morning, is 3 miles east of Jewel Cave in Custer County. As of Friday afternoon, it was listed as controlled and had burned a quarter of an acre with federal and state resources responding.
And, the Sun Country Fire was initially reported Thursday night. It was located a mile southwest of Rockerville in Pennington County. It has since been contained at a tenth of an acre.
A new fire, named the Lithograph Fire, was reported late Friday morning in Custer County near the Wyoming border. It was listed at 9 acres as of this afternoon.
