LEMMON, S.D. – Numerous agencies responded to a large grass fire that was being fought at the North Dakota-South Dakota line near Lemmon.
The Lemmon Fire Department reported the fire began in Adams County, North Dakota and crossed the state line Wednesday afternoon.
Several fire departments from both states responded to the Cedar River Fire, which at last report, had burned over 4,000 acres.
Several buildings, including a hunting lodge, have reportedly been lost to the fire.
Fire crews had the blaze 70-percent contained as of Thursday night.
Meanwhile, a couple of small wildfires were reported in the Black Hills Thursday.
The Erskine Fire burned 1.6 acres six miles west of Summerset. The fire was reported around 5:30 Thursday evening and has been contained.
And, the Walnut Fire, was reported earlier in the day and burned a tenth of an acre just off I-90 at Piedmont. The fire was human caused and was quickly knocked down by state and local fire crews.
