Sioux Falls Regional Airport is 3.1 miles from 9th Street and Phillips Avenue to the drop-off parking area.
The airport was established in 1937 and leased to the U.S. government in 1942 for use as an Army base. After World War II, the airport was returned to the city with a portion leased to the South Dakota Air National Guard.
Sioux Falls Regional replaced Soo Skyways Airport, which operated from 1926-1946 in southwestern Sioux Falls south of 41st Street between Western and Kiwanis avenues.
