RAPID CITY, SD – With municipal elections concluded, the Rapid City Community Relations Commission is once again offering free “‘I Love Rapid City Because…'” message signs, providing residents with a unique way to express their appreciation for the community. The project aims to foster unity and highlight the positive aspects of the area.
The signs, featuring a red heart and various messages, including a customizable “fill-in-the-blank” option, are available while supplies last. Commission Coordinator LaFawn Janis will host a display table at City Hall on Monday, June 9, from noon to 4 p.m.
The signs will also be distributed at several upcoming Rapid City events, including the West Boulevard Summer Festival on June 14-15 at Wilson Park, the Juneteenth Celebration on June 21 at the Performing Arts Center from 9 a.m. to noon, and the Pride Festival on June 28 at Memorial Park.
Residents can choose from a dozen pre-designed messages, such as “We Are Community,” “We Help Each Other,” “Of Our Beautiful Outdoors,” and “It’s The Best Small Big Town.” The signs are designed for display in yards, home windows, and local businesses, encouraging both residents and visitors to see expressions of community pride.
For businesses, larger 3’x3’ signs with posting material are available for delivery and can be ordered online at https://forms.gle/68N4br1n9de6Ccsu6.
The Community Relations Commission emphasizes that the signs serve as an expression of community unity. “There was a great response last year,” said Janis. “These signs carry inspirational messages and showcase the goodness in our community. People can use the signs to openly show why they love our community.”
